Robert Paul Wunderlich, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Allen, Kansas, to Hugo Paul and Evelyn K. Torrence Wunderlich. He and Glenda Harris were married May 23, 1954, in Cape Girardeau.
Robert was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel. He worked 42 years with AmerenUE. He had been a Boy Scout leader of Troop 8 and was a member of American Legion Post 63. He coached youth baseball and basketball teams, enjoyed golfing, and gardening was his passion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Wunderlich of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Stephen (Janice) Wunderlich of Eureka, Missouri, and David (Celeste) Wunderlich of Jackson; a daughter, Karen (Patrick) Wessels of Wildwood, Missouri; three brothers, Jim (Judy) Wunderlich of Jackson, Don (Doris) Wunderlich of Cape Girardeau and Darrel (Charlotte) Wunderlich of Kentucky Lake; a sister, Catherine (Frank) Clippard of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren, Katie, Bobby (Carrie), Paul (Laura), Matthew and Sophie Wunderlich and Maggie, Gracie, Libby and Kate Wessels; and five great-grandchildren, Cassidee, Alexis, Quinton, Keegan and Coen Wunderlich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenny Wunderlich; and a sister, Mildred Overbeck.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at Good Shepherd Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Weston Wildauer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
