Robert E. "Bud" Thorne, 63, of Fountain, Fla., formerly of Burfordville, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Bay Hospital in Panama City, Fla.

He was born April 5, 1945, in Cape Gir­ardeau, son of Herbert S. and Iva J. Allen Thorne.

Thorne attended Burfordville Baptist Church and the former Burfordville School. He worked in the commercial and residential construction industry.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from Aug. 16, 1965, to Jan. 14, 1967.

Survivors include two sisters, Ella Mae Beard of Jackson and Joyce Uhles of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A memorial service was held Dec. 6 in Fountain.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating.

McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of local arrangements.
