LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Robert Wayne "Bob" Thiele, 65, of Leopold passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Bob was born March 7, 1958, to the late Glen and Ethel Seiler Thiele in Cape Girardeau.
Bob was a 1976 graduate of Leopold High School. He attended St. John Catholic Church for the entirety of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 30 years and farmed for many years. He liked to hunt and fish, when the time permitted. He loved to eat ice cream with his grandchildren.
On Sept. 8, 1984, Robert and Georgia Hinkebein were united in marriage at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, Missouri. They were married nearly 39 years and had two wonderful children, Craig and Courtney.
Survivors include his wife: Georgia Thiele; son, Craig Thiele; daughter, Courtney (J.D.) Fodge; and brother, Roger (Bonnie) Thiele, all of Leopold; four sisters, Glenda (Duane) Welter of Cape Girardeau, Barbara (Roger) Bucher of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Donna (Roger) Essner and Carol Thiele, both of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Anita and Briley Fodge; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Dirnberger, David Hinkebein, David Thiele, Dustin Thiele, Micheal Essner and Tyler Essner.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, at Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. The Knights of Columbus Council No. 5898 will lead the rosary and parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
