CAIRO, Ill. -- Robert J. "Bob" Stout Sr., 74, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Cairo and Mounds, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Meridian Manor Nursing Home in Mounds.
He was born April 6, 1926, in Cairo, son of Harry Michael and Mary Eileen Ryan Stout.
He married Flora Huff. She died in March 2000.
He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II and had worked for several years with radio station WKRO in Cairo. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in both Cairo and Mount Vernon.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Stout Jr. of Mounds and Jeff Stout of Villa Ridge, Ill.; four daughters, Judy Ryan of Davis, Calif., Jan Stout of Jackson, Tenn., Jean Dupree of Sterling, Va., and Jheri Roth of Petersburg, Ill.; two stepsons, Bill Biggerstaff of Cape Girardeau and James Biggerstaff of Mounds; a stepdaughter, Becky Hannan of Mount Vernon; two brothers, John Stout of Evansville, Ind., and Harry Stout of Cairo; two sisters, Mary Eileen Karcher and Elizabeth Turner, both of Cairo; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in New Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
