Robert Benjamin Smith, 90, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 1, 1930, in St. Louis to the late Louis Jefferson and Marie Elisabeth Meyer Smith. He and Edna T. Greaser were married April 25, 1953, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, the Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus No. 1111. He worked as a city letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Cape for 36 years and was a truck driver for Ryder Truck for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna T. Smith of Jackson; sons, Brad L. (Brenda) Smith, Roger J. Smith, Bruce G. (Teri) Smith and Randy J. Smith, all of Jackson, and Dr. Scott B. Smith of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Susan M. (Mark) Jackson of Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine Brame.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m., followed by the Knights of Columbus rosary, today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary's Cathedral.
