SIKESTON, Mo. -- Robert H. Simmons, 50, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 15, 1950, in Twist, Ark., son of Buford and Easter Mae Venzant Simmons. He was an Army veteran and member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Antowan L. Jones of Detroit, Mich., and Robert Holmes of Phoenix, Ariz.; six sisters, Mary Ann Johnson, Delores Simmons, Rosie Lee Simmons and Tracy Townsend, all of Sikeston, and Maggie Harris and Grace Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Jerry Simmons of Sikeston, and Buford Simmons Jr. and Alvin Simmons of New Madrid, Mo.; his stepmother, Louise Simmons of New Madrid; and four stepbrothers, Rafield Holbrook of Detroit, James Anthony Jones and Kevin Jones of Sikeston and Willie Brown of New Madrid.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church. The Rev. Gail Hundley will officiate. Burial will follow at the Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron, Mo.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
