CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Robert Scott, known as "My Daddy," of Charleston died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at the Charleston Manor Nursing Center. He was 90.
He was born April 23, 1910, in Thompson Bend, Mo., the son of Elliott and Tina Steward Scott. He married Pauline Beatrice Rush on April 23, 1938. She died April 1, 1980.
He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Opportunity Church of God in Christ, serving as a deacon and later as a minister of the Charleston church.
He is survived by five sons, Robert Lee Scott of Chicago Heights, Ill., Garry Scott of Kansas City, Mo., and Joe Scott, John Scott and Wayne Scott of Charleston; nine daughters, Thelma Jarrett of Chicago, Earline Webb and Ola Mae Webb of Kansas City, Lisa Scott of Dallas, Texas, Lois Dugan of Los Angeles, Calif., Debra Gale of St. Meyers, Fla., and Blondell Scott, Dollye Brewer and Rose McCain of Charleston; a brother, Clarence Scott of Charleston; 44 grandchildren, two of whom, Ronnie Scott and Evelyn Scott, he raised as his children; and more than 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters and a son.
Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ. Elder Steve Betts will officiate.
Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
