WHITEWATER -- Robert Sawyer Jr., 53, of Whitewater, died Monday, July 29, 1996, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 23, 1942, at Whitewater, son of Robert and Hazel Grindstaff Sawyer Sr. He and Saundra Felty were married June 2, 1962.
Sawyer was a 1960 graduate of Jackson High School. He had worked at International Shoe Co. He had worked at Procter & Gamble since 1969, and was currently a lab technician. He still farmed at Whitewater, raised beef cattle, and for 15 years has raised and showed Belgium horses.
He was a member and deacon at Harmony Congregational Methodist Church in Marble Hill, served on its building committee and as Sunday School superintendent.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randy Sawyer of Fredericktown, Tom Sawyer of Marble Hill, Dean Sawyer of Whitewater; three sisters, Genece Felty of Jackson, Geneva Leslie of Marble Hill, Faye Hahn of Millersville, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harmony Church, with the Revs. Bill Ross and Jack Leslie officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park at Marble Hill.
