PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert S. Mattingly, 87, of Perryville died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 5, 1913, in Perry County, son of Vincent Leo and Rosella Gibbar Mattingly. He and Stella Marie Lawrence were married June 12, 1940.
He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, the National Farmers Organization and was a past president and school board member at the Cissell School.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Lee Mattingly and Vernon Mattingly, both of Perry County; five daughters, Joan Naeger of Ste. Genevieve, June Marie Mattingly of St. Louis, Wanda L. Figge of Pevely; Diane Fenwick of Perry County and Marilyn K. Owens of Cuba; three brothers, Elvin H. Mattingly, Cullen J. Mattingly and Bert V. Mattingly, all of Perryville; three sisters, Lucille Griffard and Laverne Naeger, both of Perryville, and Mary V. Mattingly of Cape Girardeau; 30 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two infant children, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville and from 6:30-9:20 a.m. Wednesday. A Catholic wake will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, with the Rev. Felipe Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Christ the Savior Church Cemetery.
