Robert L. Ruff, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in East St. Louis, Ill., to George H. and Ada Green Ruff. He and Nellie Kerr Huey were married June 6, 1959, in Cape Girardeau.
Robert was part of the Army field artillery while serving in the South Pacific during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He received a bachelor of science from the University of Southern Illinois where he was a member of TKE fraternity.
Robert was a sales representative for construction products. He also worked in real estate and managed Rivercrest Apartments for a number of years. He was a member of Junior Chamber of Commerce, VFW, American Legion and Red Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy (Frank) Huber of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandchild, Danney Karl Huber of New Orleans, La.; three nieces, Juanita Gras of Houston, Texas, Patti Ruffles of St. Louis and Patricia Chisenhall of Minneapolis, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home.
