ANNA, Ill. -- Robert E. "Bob" Mowery, 81, of Anna died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 8, 1925, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of Howard E. and Carrie V. Hileman Mowery. He and Louise Sprouse were married June 7, 1947, in Piggott, Ark. She died Oct. 2, 1989. He and Betty Woolridge were married Sept. 5, 1992, in Jonesboro.
Mowery was a truck driver with E.T. Simons many years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 347 in West Frankfort, Ill., and a life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ron Mowery of Jonesboro; two daughters, Sheryl Furlow of Anna, Maureen Jones of Livingston, Texas; two stepsons, Larry Norris and Damon Woolridge of Anna; a stepdaughter, Pamela Lamszus of Buncombe, Ill.; three sisters, Louise Barnhart of Louisville, Ky., Deloris Jackson of South Elgin, Ill., Janet Woods of Sycamore, Ill.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Davy Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with military Rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post.
