POPLAR BLUFF -- Robert James Miller, 96, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 26, 1901, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. He and Edith Edna Simpkin were married Dec. 14, 1919. She died Oct. 20, 1991.
Miller was a retired carpenter and custodian at Poplar Bluff Schools. He was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Alva Miller of Scott City; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Cotrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Aldrich officiating. Burial will be in Sparkman Cemetery.
