CYPRESS, Texas -- Robert Frederic Ludwig, 77, of Cypress, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at North Cypress Medical Center in Cypress. He was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Bloomington, Neb., son of the Rev. Paul W. and Thekla Friedrich Ludwig. He and Edna Marie Schade were married Aug. 1, 1952, in Houston. She died Feb. 2, 1978...

CYPRESS, Texas -- Robert Frederic Ludwig, 77, of Cypress, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at North Cypress Medical Center in Cypress.

He was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Bloomington, Neb., son of the Rev. Paul W. and Thekla Friedrich Ludwig. He and Edna Marie Schade were married Aug. 1, 1952, in Houston. She died Feb. 2, 1978.

Ludwig attended Marysville High School in Marysville, Kan., graduating in May 1947. He attended St. John's Lutheran College in Winfield, Kan. and William Allen White School of Journalism at Emporia State Teacher's College in Emporia, Kan. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1952. Ludwig was active in the Kiwanis Club and became president and lieutenant governor of the Missouri-Arkansas District. He was active in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was a charter member of a mission congregation which became Good Shepard Lutheran Chapel. Ludwig was a graduate of the School of Banking in Madison, Wis., and became a vice president at First National Bank in Cape Girardeau. He worked as clerk of the court in Cape Girardeau and then moved to Houston in 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Darrel Ludwig of Cypress and Ronald Ludwig of Tracy, Calif.; six brothers, Dr. Paul Ludwig, the Rev. Richard Ludwig, Philip Ludwig, Dr. Theodore Ludwig, Dr. David Ludwig and Dr. Thomas Ludwig; four sisters, Eunice Fink, Thekla Sebaugh, Elizabeth Wiening and Charlotte LePere; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside service will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery, with the Vicar Anthony Kobak officiating.

Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
