Robert Littleton

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Robert "Bob" L. Littleton, 74, formerly of Jackson, Mo., passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at his son's home in Oak Ridge.

Friends may call between 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Old Apple Creek Cemetery at Pocahontas, Mo., with a military honors graveside service. The Rev. Jon Sedgwick will officiate.

Bob was born Oct. 2, 1927, at St. Louis, Mo., son of William F. and Catherine L. Jacobs Littleton. He and Nancy Mae Kent were married June 15, 1954. Nancy survives.

Other loving survivors include five sons, Joseph, James, Roger and David, all of Jackson, Tim Littleton and wife, Gene, of Oak Ridge; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Cheryl Smith of Cape Girardeau, Rhonda and Richard Sauerbrunn of Jackson, Becky and Stephen Puchbauer of Sikeston, Mo., and Pamela Littleton of Jackson.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Michael, Travis, Amanda and Hannah; two stepgrandchildren, Rachel and Jimmy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine and Omar Farrow of Jackson and Clara Davis of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a sister.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from April 3, 1946, to May 4, 1947, and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. During the Korean occupation, he was a radio operator. He then worked for Ingram Barge Line and the former International Shoe Company in Jackson. In 1954, he began a 32-year career working for the Missouri Department of Transportation maintenance in Cape Girardeau County. He retired in 1986.

Bob was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau and a member of the former Cape Girardeau County Civil Defense.
