JACKSON -- Funeral service for Robert E. LaRue Jr. of Jackson will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. The Rev. Conway Briscoe III will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

LaRue, 56, died Monday, April 8, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Baltimore, Md., son of Dr. Robert E. and Dorothy Willoughby LaRue. He and Carol Birk were married Dec. 28, 1969. She died March 6, 1996.

LaRue was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.

He was a commercial airlines pilot and had worked for TWA, Royal Jordanian, Dominica, and United. He was also a private corporate pilot.

LaRue was a leader with Boy Scout Troop 311 in Jackson, member of Order of the Arrow, served on the board of REA, and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert LaRue III of Jackson; a daughter, Carolyn LaRue of Jackson; his parents of Woodland, Texas; a brother, James LaRue of Houston, Texas, and a sister, Sally Arthur of Woodland.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
