ROBERT L. NEWELL

OAK RIDGE -- Robert Lee Newell, 92, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Chaffee Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 15, 1906, at Grassy to Daniel and Lucy Quinn Newell.

He married Grace Bowers Oct. 17, 1946. She died March 3, 1996.

He made his living in timber and saw milling and later worked at the former IXL Handle factory in Jackson. He retired in 1968.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ at Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, David Newell of Thebes, Ill., and Mark Newell of Scott City; a daughter, Brenda Newell-Cox of Anniston, Ala.; a sister, Lizzy Welker of Millersville; and five granddaughters.

A son, two brothers and sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will be Monday at 10 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Delbert Mueller officiating. Burial will follow at Caney Fork Cemetery near Millersville.
