SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Robert Lewis Ellis of Sikeston will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Dale Merritt will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Ellis, 61, died Saturday, April 3, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born May 5, 1931, in Glen Allan, Miss., son of Everett and Martha Stockman Ellis. He and Ilona Menegatti were married Nov. 21, 1953, in Pocahontas, Ark.
Ellis was a self-employed truck driver for 30 years. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church, and Eagles Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Ellis of Sikeston; a daughter, Debra Gregory of Sikeston; two brothers, Leroy Ellis of St. Charles, Carl Ellis of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Dean Hart of St. Louis, Thelma Thompson of Nashville, Doris Kelam of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
