Robert Leroy Kail, 78, of Missouri Veterans Home died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at the facility.

He was born May 21, 1918, in Crockett County, Tenn., son of Roy B. and Alta Robertson Kail. He and Lorraine Henson were married Sept. 21, 1939, in Fulton, Ky.

Kail was a manager with Procter & Gamble 30 years, moving to Cape Girardeau from Lexington, Ky. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and taught shop and agriculture in Crockett County.

He was a lieutenant colonal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He helped organize the National Guard in Crockett County, retiring from the guard in 1978.

Kail was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and had served as deacon, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lexington, and had been a Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Kail of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Brenda Warren of Jackson, Tenn.; two brothers, Harold and Bobby Kail of Alamo, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Revs. Mark Anderson and William Ellis officiating. Graveside service with military rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Alamo Cemetery at Alamo.
