LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Robert Louis Jansen, 72, of Leopold died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at his farm, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born May 11, 1935, at Leopold, son of Robert W. and Clara Lucy Debrock Jansen. He first married Marilyn Nenninger in 1957 and then married Karen Stause in 2000.
Mr. Jansen was a self-employed farmer, member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, National Farmers Organization and Bollinger County Soil and Water Conservation. He was past president and member of Leopold School Board, and past recipient of the University of Missouri Farm Extension Award.
Survivors include a son, Bobby (Kristi) Jansen of Leopold; four daughters, Roberta Jansen of Leopold, Kimberly Jean (Jim) Sands of Parker, Colo., Jacqueline Ranae (Ron) Brown and Caroline Sue (Tony) Gemeinhardt of Leopold; and a stepdaughter, Jessica Stause of the state of South Carolina.
Also a brother, Arnold Jansen of Leopold; six sisters, Clara Macke and Agnes Broshuis of Leopold, Rose Macke of Toledo, Ohio, Loretta Blattel of Chaffee, Mo., Sister Mary Jane Jansen of Oran, Mo., Nettie Surface of Leopold; 10 grandchildren, Leslee Ricketts, Shelbee Miller, Josh and Jonathan Sands, Brice and Jace Jansen, Robert and Parker Brown, Kaylee and Carson Gemeinhardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert W.; two sisters, Adeline Vandeven and Dorothy Hinkebein; and a granddaughter, Karlee Sue Brown.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. The Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leopold R-3 School.
