HOMEWOOD, Ill. -- Robert "Bob" Earl Humphrey, 71, of Homewood, Ill., died Friday, July, 23, 2004, in Greenwood, Ind.
He was born Feb. 17, 1933, near Mounds, Ill., son of Floyd Charles and Marie Jane McAllister Humphrey.
After graduating from high school in 1952, he served in the U.S. Army for several years at Fort Hood, Texas.
He graduated from the Bailey Technical Institute in St. Louis and worked a series of industrial engineering jobs in the Midwest. For the past three years he was employed by his nephew, Charles Floyd Humphrey in Greenwood.
Prior to leaving Mounds, he attended the First United Methodist Church in Mound.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Order of the Arrow.
Survivors include a sister, Nelda Lois Humphrey-Axley of Columbia, Mo.,; three brothers, Donald Humphrey of Columbia, retired Col. Carl Humphrey of Burkittsville, Md., and Lee Humphrey of Notasulga, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral 1Home in Mounds. with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
