Robert Eugene Hooper, 60, of East Prairie, Mo., formerly of Scott City, passed away Monday April 18, 2011, at his home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1950, in St. Louis to the late William Hooper and Pansy Farmer Hooper Weaver.
Robert lived in East Prairie the past five years. He was a retired captain with Missouri Department of Corrections. He was of the Catholic belief, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sikeston, Mo., and Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 in Scott City.
He and Debra Cowan were married May 31, 2006. She survives.
He and Charlotte Schlosser were married Jan. 24, 1970. Four daughters were born to this union, Christine (Clint) Estes, Cheryl Tucker, Rebecca (Allen) Collier, Sara (Chris) Snider, all of Scott City; four brothers, Kim Weaver of Cape Girardeau, Kelley Joyce of De Soto, Mo., Jimmy Joyce and Michael Joyce of Scott City; five sisters, Mary Lou Coonts of Scott City, Nora Shoults of Northwood, Iowa, Carol Long and Linda Stapleton of Fenton, Mo., and Anita Mott of Scott City; 13 grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary, Abagail, Samuel Estes, Catrina Stone, Ryan Brock, Alivia, Ty, Bennett and baby girl to be Collier, Dominic Hooper and Amanda and Drake Snider; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Stone, Anna Jo Summers; and a host of nieces; nephews; and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Top of the Town, 313 E. Main St. in East Prairie.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, with Dr. Michael Coleman officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Bradley, Ray Ellis, COII Ray Hopper, CSI Richard Adams, COIII Paul Luber and CSI Gregory Walker.
Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
