THEBES, Ill. -- It is with great sadness that the family of Robert "Neil" Hale announces his passing.

Neil, 43, of Thebes tragically passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

He was born Sept. 3, 1978, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Robert Gene and Sherry Ann Thompson Hale.

Neil was a laborer by trade. He loved hunting and fishing. His passion was the great outdoors. His favorite pastime was riding ATVs. He loved picking the guitar and was an outstanding singer with a voice that soothed the soul. His greatest muse was his daughter whom he loved dearly.

Loving survivors include his mother, Sherry Ann Hale of Thebes; friend and mother of his child, Dianna Wilke Hale; daughter, Summer Dawn Hale; sisters, Autumn (Wayne) Duffell and Jerssie and Jessalynn Hale; brother, Jessie Hale of Thebes; nephews, Braiden and Blayke Duffell; aunt, Brenda White; uncles, Lee and Larry Thompson, Tommy, David, Ronnie and Randy Hale and Hope McHughs; paternal grandmother, Kathe Hale; adored cousins, Aretta (Mike) Myers, Erica Dillard and Bobby (Sherri) White; second cousins, Codie and Kyler; and so many more family and friends not mentioned.

Neil was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gene Hale; maternal grandfather, Lester Thompson; maternal grandmother, Aretta Thompson; paternal grandfather, Bob Hale; and aunts, Tina Sissom and Dixie Bevill.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lee Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
