PULASKI, Ill. -- Robert Lester Haffly, Sr., 79, of Springfield, Ill., and formerly of Pulaski and Cairo, Ill., died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Blessing Hospital at Quincy, Ill.
Haffly was born Jan. 16, 1922, at St. Louis, Mo., son of Joseph and Althea Bennifield Haffly.
He was a retired auto repair mechanic and an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the VFW post of Cairo, and the American Legion post and DAV, both of Springfield.
Survivors are a daughter, Monica Grinkey of Baylis, Ill.; two sons, Robert L. Haffly II of Winchester, Ky., and B.J. Haffly of Pooleville, Texas; a brother, William Haffly of Dongola, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Margaret Ella Bennett Haffly died Sept. 11, 1999.
A graveside memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski. Interment will follow.
There will be no visitation.
The Jones Funeral Home of Villa Ridge, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
