SCOTT CITY -- Robert Gene Grueneberg Sr., 72, of Scott City, died Wednesday, May 25, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 7, 1921, at Cape Girardeau, son of Robert Gustav and Emilia Wilhelmina Sprenger Grueneberg.
He married Dora E. Faircloth, Feb. 7, 1942, at Milton, Fla.
Grueneberg was a retired mechanic. He worked for Lone Star Industries in Cape Girardeau for 39 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist's mate first class.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Grueneberg Jr. of Scott City; six daughters, Dora Jean Poinsett of Florissant, Carol Grueneberg of Apache Junction, Ariz., Lina Matvy of Knoxville, Tenn., Emily Fuemmeler, Cindy Raines and Julie Grueneberg, all of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating.
Burial will follow in Lightner Cemetery.
