Robert "Bob" Fee, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, the only child of Florence Hirsch, a homemaker, and Vernon, a manager with Metropolitan Insurance Company. Bob's family owned and operated Hirsch's Mercantile in Cape Girardeau.
Bob attended and graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School before attending Southeast Missouri State University. Bob joined the Navy on Jan. 29, 1951, and served in Japan and Korea as a sonar operator. He was honorably discharged on June 13, 1952, with the Japanese Occupation Ribbon, China Service Ribbon and Korean Service Ribbon.
Bob spent many years working in the family business. Later, Bob worked for Hawthorne Group, now Integrated Supply. He never retired and was working part time until 2012, when an accident ended his career. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jo Ann; four daughters, Susan (Bill) Means and Lynne Fee of St. Louis, Lee Ann (Randy) Brugger of Cape Girardeau and Monica (Roger) Popp of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Fee and Florence Hirsch Fee.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Entombment will be in the Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
