CHARLESTON -- Robert Ellis Groves, 57, of Ashland, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1993, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Lexa, Ark., son of Earnest and Mary Agnes Bradley Groves. He and Connie Cook were married May 26, 1956.
Formerly of Scott and Mississippi counties, Groves had lived in the Columbia area seven years. He was building maintenance supervisor with the University of Missouri until retiring because of ill health.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert "Buddy" Groves of the home; Jerry Groves of Sikeston; a daughter, Letta Schnell of Ashland; a brother, Jack Groves of Lexa; four sisters, Pansy Yates and Betty Stacy of West Memphis, Ark., Katherine Adams of West Helena, Ark., Marie Holder of Memphis, Tenn., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
