Robert Deevers

Robert Jiles Deevers, 54, of Cape Girardeau was called to his heavenly home Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

He was born Dec. 13, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, to J.E. and Sally Loos Deevers. He and Sandy Carman were married June 5, 1993, in Jackson.

Deevers graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1974. He touched the lives of many friends and family members for 21 years with recovery issues.

He was an avid collector and restorer of Corvettes. He was a tamper operator with Burlington Northern Railroad 20 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include his parents; wife; a daughter, Lacy Deevers; a stepdaughter, Kaitlyn Spalding; a stepson, Trey Spalding, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, David Deevers and wife Christy of Jonesboro, Ark.; three sisters, Marilyn Fuller and husband DeWayne of Dardenne Prairie, Mo., JoAnn Askins and husband Jim of Park City, Utah, Teresa Keys and husband Darrell of Randles; two grandchildren, Hunter and Jayden; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Saviour Nundwe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
