CHARLESTON, S.C. — Robert Lynn Bishop, 73, of Charleston, husband of Donna Brothers Bishop, entered eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his home. A private service will be held at a later date.
Robert was born Nov. 25, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of Walter Glenn and Mary Lee Seabaugh Bishop.
After attending University of Missouri, where he played football on a scholarship, Robert built a career in the Lowcountry of South Carolina as a developer and general contractor. Some of his developments included Isle of Palms Marina and Shem Creek Inn and building more than 5,000 homes in the Lowcountry.
Robert enjoyed golfing, hunting and playing cards with his buddies. He will be remembered for the way he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna J. Bishop of Charleston; daughter, Angela “Angie” B. (Brad) Libhart of Charleston; son, Bryan Amlingmeyer of Summerville, South Carolina; brother, Bill Bishop of Cape Girardeau; sister, Cinda (Greg) Parker of Maitland, Florida; four grandchildren, Cole Libhart and Gabe Libhart, both of Charleston, John Carter Amlingmeyer of Tampa, Florida, and Hart Amlingmeyer of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; two nieces, Beth McClure of St. Louis and Katelyn Shuford of Park City, Utah; and two nephews, T.J. Bishop of Cape Girardeau and Jamison Parker of Houston.
Robert was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Cathy Bishop.
