Robert Berkbigler Sr.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert L. Berkbigler Sr., 74, of Perryville died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 23, 1932, in Perryville, son of Daniel and Mable Miget Berkbigler. He married Wanda Niemeyer.

Berkbigler was a mechanic, and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was a past member of American Legion and AmVets.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 to February 1955.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Berkbigler Jr. of Perryville; a brother, Daniel Berkbigler of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; six sisters, Marie Hinni of Cape Girardeau, Rose Mary Stenech of Tucson, Ariz., Anna Mae Balsman of Miami, Fla., Nina Gross of Godfrey, Ill., Merle Bradford of Cassville, Mo., and Pearl Moore of Hammond, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 to 11:50 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at noon Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133.
