CHAFEEE -- Robert A. Baert, 89, of Chaffee died Friday, May 10, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 30, 1901 in Zuiddorpe, Holland, the son of Edwardus and Natalia Colleman Baert. He arrived in the United States with his family March 11, 1911. CHAFEEE -- Robert A. Baert, 89, of Chaffee died Friday, May 10, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 30, 1901 in Zuiddorpe, Holland, the son of Edwardus and Natalia Colleman Baert.

He arrived in the United States with his family March 11, 1911. On July 11, 1942, he married the former Idell Hanners, who survives.

He was a machinist for the Frisco Railroad Co. for more than 40 years, before he retired in 1963. He was of the Catholic denomination.

Survivors include a son, Robert Baert of Columbia; four daughters, Ruth Ann Sadler of Chaffee, Helen Gill of Jackson, Dorothy Bowers of Delta and Margaret Miller of Los Banos, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and a son.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Alois Stevens will officiate, and burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee. Visitation was Saturday at the funeral home.
