Rita Sue Weidner, 72, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 5, 1948, in Oran, Missouri, daughter of Oshal and Lillie Cummins Hogan. She and Alan Weidner were married Feb. 29, 2004. He preceded her in death.
Rita attended Cape LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. For many years, she was a librarian at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson, before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. She was a customer service representative for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona, retiring after 20 years. In 2005, she returned to Jackson.
Loving survivors include two sons, Richard (Vera) Kranawetter of Patton, Missouri, and Douglas (Nikki) Kranawetter of Oak Ridge; three grandchildren, Kylie Kranawetter, Kasey Kranawetter and Gage Kranawetter; and a brother, Leroy (Phyllis) Hogan of Jackson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Sam Kranawetter.
The funeral service and interment will be private.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
