TAMMS, Ill. -- Rita Lackey McKee, 85, of Tamms, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 6, 1916, in Alexander County, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph Henry and Minnie Elizabeth Miller Bufford.
On Aug. 4, 1935, she was married to Rann Oliver Lackey. He died Aug. 17, 1959. She later was married to Clarence Junior McKee on Oct. 5, 1961. He died Sept. 25, 1983.
McKee was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tamms and also attended Tamms Community Church. She played piano at both churches for many years and also played at the H & S Care Center. For many years she was also the organist at Crain Funeral Home. She was a secretary for many years at Tamms Silica Co.
Survivors include a son, Don Lackey of St. Louis; three stepsons, Wayne McKee of Hartford, Ill., Jerry McKee of Olive Branch, Ill., Terry McKee of Columbia, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Christopher of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Earl Bufford of Harlingen, Texas; two sisters, Marjorie Webb of Tamms and Marcella Adams of Vienna, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a brother and a stepson.
Friends may call from 5 -8 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill.
