PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rita L. Cornelius, 89, of Perryville died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was born March 8, 1924, in Uniontown, Mo., daughter of Adolf and Lucy Mueller Meyr. She and Lloyd Klaus were married Dec. 3, 1941. He preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1965. She then married Wilfred Cornelius on Jan. 28, 1978, and he preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1992...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rita L. Cornelius, 89, of Perryville died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

She was born March 8, 1924, in Uniontown, Mo., daughter of Adolf and Lucy Mueller Meyr.

She and Lloyd Klaus were married Dec. 3, 1941. He preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1965. She then married Wilfred Cornelius on Jan. 28, 1978, and he preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1992.

Rita had been a cashier for Park-Et Restaurant. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown and VFW Post 4282 Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Victor (Carol) Klaus of Perryville, Kirby (Cathy) Klaus of Uniontown and Robert (Donna) Klaus of Frohna, Mo.; three stepsons and two stepdaughters, Glen (Sharon) Cornelius of Silver Springs, N.M., Linda (Gary) Foote of Festus, Mo., Lee (Janet) Cornelius and Dennis Cornelius of Perryville, Susan Worthy of Florida; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one great-grandson, five sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

She will then be taken to Grace Lutheran Church for a service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown.
