KELSO, Mo. -- Richard Fred "Rick" Weber Jr., 62, of Kelso died Monday, July 20, 2015, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, to U.S. Army Cpl. Richard F. and Mary Ann Ressel Weber Sr. He and Charlene McClain were married Nov. 19, 1983, in Kelso.

After his father came home from the Korean War, the family located to East St. Louis, Illinois, and later to Fairview Heights, Illinois. The family moved to Kelso in 1964. Rick attended the final two years of grade school at St. Augustine School. He graduated from Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau in 1970, and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1975.

Rick retired from the Missouri Army National Guard after 21 years of active service and four overseas deployments to Germany, Honduras, South Korea and Japan. He retired with the rank of sergeant first class/E7 from the U.S. Army Retired Reserve.

He worked at the family business of Weber TV & Appliance 34 years, Village of Kelso Water/Wastewater 15 years and Procter & Gamble 14 years.

Rick was a charter member of Scott City Knights of Columbus Council 6420, where he held many positions, including grand knight. During his tenure, the present KC Hall was built. Rick was past faithful navigator of Thomas A. Langen Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Cape Girardeau, and later transferred and was faithful navigator to St. Joseph Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Scott City.

He was a member of American Legion Post 369 in Benton, Missouri, past member of Kelso Jaycees, a former 4-H leader in Kelso, past president of St. Augustine Catholic Church Parish Council, usher and past treasurer of St. Augustine Men's Club and a member of Retired National Guard Association in Cape Girardeau.

Rick was formerly the supervisory committee chairman of St. Augustine Credit Union 26 years. He was a past Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and Little League Baseball manager.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Weber of Kelso; a son, Alan Weber of Kelso; two sisters, Janie Slaten of Fort Myers, Florida, and Carol (William) Morrow of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Augustine Church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with Knights of Columbus service following.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery at Kelso with full military honors.
