Richard Wild, 81, of Mounds, Illinois, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 16, 1940, to Louis and Verda May (Thompson) Wild in Valmeyer, Illinois.
Richard was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He loved teaching Bible studies and Sunday School. Richard was deacon in the First Baptist Church of Mound City, Illinois. He loved his church family. They were very special to him. He also loved gathering every morning at a local restaurant to have coffee with his very special friends. This was the highlight of his day, and all appointments would need to be scheduled around this event.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; daughters, Sherry (Kenny) Meadows of Villa Ridge, Illinois, Juliet Jackson and Johnetta LaMar of St. Louis and Jill (Chip) Bulgin of Baltimore; son, Joshua (Kim) Jackson of St. Louis; sister, Patsy Rundles of Alton, Illinois; brother, Harry Wild of Anna, Illinois; granddaughters, Christiana Bulgin, Rebecca (Robert) Wilson and Susan (Marc) Stout; grandsons, Mitchell Jackson, Austin Davis, Benjamin Jackson, Drew Jackson, Garrett Bulgin and Riley Powell; special niece, Nancy Powell of Mound City; special sister-in-law, Marcella Dockins of Cape Girardeau; special cousin, Harold McNelly of Thebes, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Wild; parents; three sisters, JoAnn, Karen and Shirley; brother, Kenny Wild; special nephew, Steve Powell; and daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Wayne French.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, Illinois.
Funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Mound City National Cemetery, and military honors will be accorded.
