POPLAR BLUFF -- Richard L. "Dick" Mulkey, 74, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Aug. 2, 1924, at Cape Girardeau, son of Thomas B. and Ferol Mammon Mulkey. He and Helen Posey were married on Dec. 30, 1945, at Caruthersville.
Mulkey attended schools in Cape Girardeau and Jackson State in Jackson, Tenn.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and received his honorable discharge and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1976.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Poplar Bluff, the Eastern Star and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of York Square and Compass Club of London, England, and was a former president of the Caruthersville Kiwanis Club.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Mulkey of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, Ruth Tice of Kennett and Chris McGath of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Russ Mulkey of Portland, Ore., and Edwin Mulkey of San Angelo, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville. Dr. Rick Broadway officiated.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
