PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Richard P. Meyer, 71, of Perryville passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, son of Elmer A. and Bernice Lohmann Meyer. He and Donna Kassel were married Nov. 27, 1965. She survives in Perryville.

Richard was a civil engineer with Koehler Engineering & Surveying in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Angela (Michael) Benoit, Mark (Kelly) Meyer and John (Missy) Meyer, all of Perryville; two sisters and one brother, Susan (Don) Mueller of Maple Lake, Minn., Carol (Charles) Barber of Birmingham, Ala., and Charles (Jill) Meyer of Oakville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Nichole, Aimee, Jason and Shane Bohnert, Kolton Benoit, Jack and Kelsea Meyer, Anissa and Kayley Meyer and Devon Colin; and one great-grandson, Gavin Clewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred for Immanuel Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.

Young and Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements.
