James Richard Limbaugh, 71, of Jackson died Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home.

He was born July 14, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to John Daniel and Opal Arlene Adams Limbaugh.

Richard graduated from Cape Central High School in 1963.

He and Barbara Jaquline Hart were married June 4, 1966, at Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Limbaugh of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Jerome Schlitt of Oran, Missouri; three nieces, Malinda (Martin) Priggel, Carol (Pete) Dennis and Lori (Shaun) Dirnberger, all of Oran; two nephews, Michael (Jo) Schlitt of Oran and Jerry (Tammy Seyer) Schlitt of Chaffee, Missouri; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother- and father-in-law, Rufus and Mary Harlean Little Hart; a sister, Arlene; and a sister-in-law, Mary Louise Schlitt.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alvie Surface officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Church of God Building Fund in Jackson or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
