Richard Ham
CAIRO, Ill. -- Richard W. "Dick" Ham, 88, of Cairo died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1919, in Oakwood, Ohio, son of Thomas and Blanche Carnahan Ham. He married Dorothy Rose, who died in 1985.
Ham was a carpenter and roofer and had worked at Pyramid Roofing and Lumber Co., and Webster Plumbing Co. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He was formerly of America, Ill.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Malcolm Walston of Cairo.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Hoskins officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill., with military honors conducted by Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post 8891 of Mounds, Cairo VFW Post 2649, and Louis Phares American Legion Post 178 of Villa Ridge, Ill.
