On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, Richard James John Frenzel, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 64.
Rich was born on Oct. 14, 1954, in Chicago to Robert and Jean Flynn Frenzel. He married Doreen Zuroske (twice). They raised two sons, Nicholas and David.
He was a proud Chicago firefighter of 40 years and avid Cubs fan through and through.
Rich had a passion for cooking, both at home and at the firehouse. He loved things with a story to tell and often collected items most would discard as clutter.
Rich was compassionate and kind, most notably to those who knew him but also to those who he did not. He was a cherished friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen; two sons, Nicholas (Rachel) Frenzel and David Paterimos; two grandsons, Nicholas and Noah Frenzel; two sisters, Christine Frenzel and Teresa (Richard) Momsen; brother-in-law, James (the late Barbara) Dennehy; two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (the late Robert) Frenzel and Juliana (the late Raymond) Frenzel; and five nieces, Katherine, Bridget, Colleen, Karen and Jennifer.
Rich was preceded in death by his father, Robert Frenzel; mother, Jean Frenzel; sister, Barbara; and two brothers, Robert and Raymond.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Food will be catered by Gordonville Grill. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations made to The ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's disease), alsa.org.
