EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. -- Richard Leon "Rick" Farris of East Cape Girardeau died Saturday, April 10, 2021.
He was born Dec. 3, 1951, in Eureka, Kansas, the son of Harold and Ruth Farris. He married Norma Glenn on Nov. 25, 2003, and she survives.
Rick served honorably in the U.S. Army and enjoyed sharing stories of his military service.
He also enjoyed spending time with his family, including his loving wife, Norma. Together, they enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, traveling and spending time with family. Rick had a deep faith and enjoyed sharing with others about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was retired and spent several years driving for John Sinclair Nissan, where he made many good friends.
Rick is survived by his wife Norma Farris; stepchildren, Marilyn and Ronnie Ashworth of East Cape Girardeau; Debbie and Mike Penrod of Steeleville, Illinois; Becky and Jeff Betts of Denver, Colorado; Lisa Hayes and friend, Donald Dane; and Vicki Betts of Paducah, Kentucky; grandsons, Matt Ashworth, Michael (Kelley) Betts, Rob (Sarah) Betts and Ethan Copeland; granddaughters, Melissa Taylor, Julie (Eric) Powell, Heather (Ryan) Rushing, Jeanna (Tony) Weatherby, Marla (Steve) Latham, Jessica Copeland, Emily (Andrew) Lyons and Abby (Andrew) Richard; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; stepson, Mike Betts, and grandson, Jeff Ashworth.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Phil Roop officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Cemetery in Cypress, Illinois. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5222 and the U.S. Army.
