Richard Lynn Eggimann, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 19, 1928, at Southeast Hospital shortly after it opened, son of the late Gustav Arthur and Willie Agnes Holmes Eggimann.
He and Joan Recker were married July 15, 1950, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Father Marquette Council 11205, and Elks Lodge. He was a past member of Jaycees and the Exchange Club.
Mr. Eggimann was a Missouri real estate broker, a city councilman eight years, pianist with Jerry Ford Band. As a public school educator he had been a teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools at Kelly, Meadow Heights, and retired from Kelso C-7 in New Hamburg, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Eggimann of Cape Girardeau; a son, Patrick Richard Eggimann and wife Kelley of Overland Park, Kan.; four daughters, Amy Louise Beechem and husband Dale of Cape Girardeau, Cindy Sue Patrick of Cape Girardeau, Jean Ann Uvodich and husband Mark of Overland Park, Frances Lynn McMahon and husband Rory of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a sister, Ruth Ann Braning of St. Charles, Mo.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, Shawn Kinder, Cody Kinder, Shadrick Beechem, Pierce Mason, Magin Patrick, Jeremy Patrick, Benjamin Patrick, all of Cape Girardeau, Mark Uvodich, Morgan Uvodich, Michael Uvodich, Mason Uvodich, Matthew Uvodich, all of Overland Park, Conner McMahon and Joseph McMahon of Fort Lauderdale, Gabriel Eggimann, Sabrina Gerhart and Amanda Gerhart, all of Overland Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., with a rosary to follow.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church Saturday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
