CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Richard Ozean Davis, 72, of Charleston died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born May 5, 1928, near Charleston, son of James Henry and Mary Lola Dixon Davis.
Davis was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church and Ten Ones Tall Civic Club.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; four sons, Anthony Davis, Lorenzo and Favis "Nearl" Wilson, all of Charleston, Richard Davis of Texas; two daughters, Dollester Jackson of Peoria, Ill., Lawand Wilson of Charleston; and a brother, L.C. Davis of Chicago.
Also surviving are four sisters, Emma Davis of Cape Girardeau, Evelyn Dean of Youngstown, Ohio, Margie Davis of Chicago, Justine Horton of Charleston; six stepsons, Wilbert McCain, Tim Davis, Randy and Frederick Jennings, all of Charleston, David Davis of St. Louis, Charles Jennings of Fulton, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Valery Davis and Evonne Cassel of Charleston, Dorris Davis of Sikeston, Carolyn Brown of Dayton, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren, including Darwin Craig II whom he raised.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at St. Matthew Church after noon Sunday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. James E. Radliff will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
