Richard Conley
Richard Elwood Conley, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 11, 1925, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Huey Lynn and Bertha Martha Froemsdorf Conley. He and Virginia L. Jo Conley were married July 20, 1949, at Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 25, 2008.
Conley served in the U.S. Army. He was a lineman for Missouri Utilities, retiring in 1987. Conley was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1111 and VFW Post 3838, and he was a 4-H leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet (Danny) Freeman of Jackson, Karen Mobley of Jefferson City, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Celia Conley of Chicago; six grandchildren, Travis Mobley, Kyla Shorter, Tara Conner, Toby Freeman, Richard W. Conley, Kenny Skippergosh; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan Allee, Darra Mobley, Harrison Mobley, Camden Conner, Kalen Conner, Keilah Freeman, Aliyah Skippergosh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Job Conley; his father, Huey Lynn Conley; his mother, Bertha Martha Froemsdorf Conley; a son, Ronald W. Conley; a brother; two sisters; and a great-grandchild, Gavin Mobley.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with military rites by the Missouri Honors Team.
