EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Funeral for retired Chief Master Sgt. Richard E. "Dick" Bright of East Prairie will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church. Fred Girdwood will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery, with full military rites conducted.
Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
Bright, 62, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 9, 1938, at East Prairie, son of Richard and Emma Myers Bright. He and Phyllis Owens were married in 1960.
Bright was a 1957 graduate of East Prairie High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1995, and had been stationed in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Far East, and many installations in the United States.
The Brights moved to East Prairie in 1995 and owned Ranchero Guest House. He was a member of and deacon at First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Skot Bright of Los Angeles and Chari McQueen of Laurel, Miss.; his father of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Pamela Wahl of Paducah, Ky., Shirley Cull of Cedar Hill, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.
