Ricardo "Ray" Watin, 55, of Murphysboro, Ill., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

He was born April 3, 1958, in the Republic of the Philippines, to Magno and Lily Besanes Watin.

Ricardo was a graduate of John A. Logan College, received a bachelor's degree from the University of San Carlos, and attended graduate school at Southeast Missouri State University. He was an engineer at the nuclear lab in Wichita, Kan., and managed International Grocery in Carbondale, Ill.

He was an avid musician, possessing a gift that allowed him to play many different instruments.

Survivors include a son, Rae Senn of Murphysboro; siblings, Gemma (Rosli) Habibbulah of Champaign-Urbana, Ill., Belen (Jerel) Lichtenegger of Cape Girardeau, Miriam, Ed, Mar, Sonny and Alex Watin, all of the Philippines; nieces and nephews, Nick, Anabel, Glenn, Joan, Anja, Monah, Rajan, Jerrilyn, Dexter, Alpha, Shelia and Marchluck; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Nick and Gerry Watin.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday and from noon until time of service Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
