ANNA, Ill. -- Rhoda Miller, 101, of Anna died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Union County Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1908, in Pope County, Ill., daughter of Alonzo and Polly Ann Austin Harper. She and Carl E. Miller were married Nov. 28, 1938. He preceded her in death July 23, 1999...

ANNA, Ill. -- Rhoda Miller, 101, of Anna died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Union County Hospital.

She was born Nov. 15, 1908, in Pope County, Ill., daughter of Alonzo and Polly Ann Austin Harper. She and Carl E. Miller were married Nov. 28, 1938. He preceded her in death July 23, 1999.

Rhoda was a member of First Baptist Church in Anna. She worked 40 years as a psychiatric aide at the former Anna State Hospital. She then worked at Union County Nursing Home and as a hostess at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Max and Dee Miller of Makanda, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jason Miller, Kelley Thorpe, Jamie Wilkins, Bryan Miller, Kelli Dick; seven great-grandchildren, Abbey, Brooke and Hannah Miller, Maddox and Beckett Thorpe, Olivia and Tess Wilkins; great-nieces; great-nephews; and other relatives.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin; two brothers, Fred and Ed Harper; a sister, Ruth Davidson; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Foeller officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Red Cross. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
