The Rev. W. Lee Cook, 82, of Jackson died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at his home.
He was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Corning, Arkansas, to Marion Amzie and Goldie Wampler Cook. Lee and Dorothy J. Gunn were married June 19, 1954, at Dexter, Missouri.
The Rev. Cook started in the ministry when he was 17 years old. He served in Ottumwa, Iowa; Kansas City; Poplar Bluff; Kirksville; and Advance, Missouri, retiring in 2010. He also worked for Old American Insurance for more than 45 years
He was a member of The Apostolic Promise Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy J. Cook of Jackson; two daughters, Beverly (John) Sides of Powell, Wyoming, and Karen (Chip) Shepard of Trinity, Alabama; two sons, Kermit (Susan) Cook of Cape Girardeau and Kevin (Deborah) Cook of Lawton, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Cook of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Glenn Cook of Houston; a sister, Retha Davidson of Fenton, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Yvonne Stevens and Anna Mae Baker.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at The Apostolic Promise Church, 750 N. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Timothy Lee and the Rev. Gerald Hamlett officiating. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
