SIKESTON -- Funeral service for the Rev. Virgil Hyslip, Sikeston Route 3, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Revs. Lester and Lewis Hyslip will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Hyslip, 68, died Monday, May 11, 1992.
He was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Lawrence County, Ark., son of Louis N. and Susie Henshaw Hyslip.
Hyslip was pastor of Pulltight Church of God 17 years. He had also pastored in California, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyne Walters; four sons, John Hyslip of Kalispell, Mont., Don, James and Kenneth Hyslip of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Warren and Betty Wiley of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Rev. Lester Hyslip of West Liberty, Okla., Bill Hyslip of Marietta, Ga., Rev. Lewis Hyslip of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
