The Rev. Sonny Floyd, 74, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Tennessee, son of Clarence and Myrtle Marie Dean Floyd. On Oct. 13, 1957, he married Freda Reaves in Bernie, Mo. She preceded him in death Oct. 27, 1994.
Sonny lived the past 10 years in Cape Girardeau. He had owned and operated Floyd & Sons Tree Service and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Harry "Duane" Floyd and Stephen Floyd of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pam Campbell of Oran, Mo.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Dixon of Belleville, Ill., Judy Brown of Sullivan, Mo., Evelyn Crump of Bloomfield, Mo.; other relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Michael Floyd; and a sister, Nadine Bates.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gail Lambert of Dupo, Ill., officiating. Interment will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
